Valley of the Temples Sicily
Agrigento founded as Akragas around 582 BC is located on a plateau overlooking Car Rental Sicily southern coast. The early site was founded by immediate descendants of Greeks from Rhodes and Crete. Akragas flourished under Phalaris (570-554 BC), and developed further under Theron (488-471 BC), destroyed several times during the Punic Wars but always rebuilt.
